About Wind KitaQ 25
The Kitakyushu Hibikinada Offshore Wind Farm is located in the Hibikinada area off the coast of Wakamatsu-ku, Kitakyushu City. The wind farm spans an offshore area extending approximately 1–10 km from north to south and 11 km from east to west, and consists of 25 large-scale wind turbines, each with a capacity of 9.6 MW. With a maximum generating capacity of 220 MW, the wind farm is expected to operate for 20 years.
Upon completion, it became the largest offshore wind farm in Japan in terms of generating capacity.
Annual electricity generation is expected to reach approximately 500 million kWh, enough to supply around 170,000 households.
This is equivalent to approximately 40% of all households in Kitakyushu City.
The wind farm was completed on March 2, 2026.
